Although this type of trip can be paralleled to an adventure race in terms of course content and endurance, this is not a race! While the route will be grueling at times, the job of the fully equipped support crew and guides is to ensure safety and basic comfort and to provide the experience of a lifetime!

The "Across the Andes" trip will consist of 9 days and 8 nights in South America with 6-7 days of riding. Approximately 3 nights will be spent in tents while the balance will be in small pueblos.

"Machu Picchu", Peru

The "Machu Picchu" trip in Peru is a new course that takes us through the most famous Inca ruins in all of South America. The trip kicks off from Cusco, Peru which is located roughly 800 km (500 miles) east and 3.5 km (13,500') above Lima. After a brief acclimatization period where we will check out awesome Cusco, the riding will begin the next day with a ride up and out of the valley and through a multitude of local Inca ruins around the city - all accessible by mountain bike! The first couple of days will of course be casual because we will be riding at elevations from 13,500' to 15,000'! After that it is off into the Sacred Valley along the Urumbaba River followed be a 2 day trek along a jungle road down into the Amazon. Included in the trip will be white water rafting and a rest day where we will take the train up to the most famous Inca ruins in all of South America - awesome Machu Picchu!

T
his trip is not technical in nature and is suitable for an early intermediate rider. However, because of the high elevations physical fitness becomes an issue (we will be riding regularly above 3,500 meters (13,500' ) with some 4,500 meter (14,500' ) passes). Daily riding distances will vary from 30km (20 miles) to 90km (55 miles) and the breakdown is approximately 35% single track and 65% mountain & jungle roads. The support crew will be with us the entire time and will be looking after all transportation of personal gear, food and supplies as well as ensuring that everyone is enjoying themselves and having a fantastic time.

The "Machu Picchu" trip consists of 9 days and 8 nights with about 5 1/2 days of riding. Approximately 2 nights will be spent in tents while the rest of the time will be in 3+ star hotels. Trip size is limited to 12 riders and is supported by 2 guides, 2 support personnel and support vehicles.

Roncesvalles, Spain to
Santiago de Compostela, Spain

"El Camino de Santiago"

The "Camino de Santiago" (way of St. James) takes us along the 12 century old pilgrimage route from the town of Roncesvalles, Spain in the Pyrenees Mountains along the French border to Santiago de Compostela. This trip follows the original pilgrimage trail through the Spanish countryside and is 800km (500 miles) of trails, doubletrack, dirt roads and in a few cases bits of paved roadway. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and is loaded with so much history it makes most North American history books look like yesterdays newspaper. Since the start of the pilgrimage route in the year 840, the stopping points began to form towns, building, hospitals and refuges for the 500,000 to 1,000,000 pilgrims that walked the trail every year from Europe to Santiago de Compostela to visit the remains of St. James. Since these towns and villages were built for the pilgrim travelers, we will be riding through all of these places and spending nights in some pretty awesome spots. For at least 3 or 4 nights, we will be kicking back in Spanish Paradores which are old castles and monasteries that have been converted by the state into 5 star hotels. The balance of the accommodation will be in "Refugios", 3 star hotels and "Pensiones".

While this trip will make you work, it is not technical in nature nor is it grueling. This trip has been designed with more emphasis on checking out Spain and some of it's history and a little less emphasis on "roughing it". Daily riding distances will vary from 50km (30 miles) to 110km (66 miles) and the support crew will be looking after all transportation of personal gear as well as ensuring that everyone is enjoying themselves and having a great time.

This trip is suitable for almost all mountain bike ability levels but a fitness level enabling you to ride up to 110km (66 miles) per day is required.

The "Camino de Santiago" trip will consist of 15 days and 14 nights with about 11 to 12 days of riding. Trip size is limited to 12 riders and is supported by 2 guides, 2 support personnel and support vehicles.
